How to make a small business website for a pilates studio

Most websites are created for the same reason: to gain exposure! If you find yourself in this situation, find encouragement that your small business website can be visually pleasing yet informative at the same time.
Kink Pilates is an in-person pilates studio in Massachussets. Although her business is primarily done at her storefront, the owner did not want to close the door to online scheduling for an easier in-person experience.
By working with our team, Kink Pilates was given the opportunity to reach individuals across the state and on the east coast. Lastly, online scheduling is crucial to running a successful studio and the solutions we found on Squarespace provide a seamless experience.
To make a great website for your pilates studio, consider the following:
- Choose a platform that can integrate well with online scheduling
- Revisit local SEO strategies
- Ensure your brand visuals are strong and vibrant – like your studio
Best website builder for small business
While we have many posts about the best website builder for small business, we’d almost always suggest WordPress. However, WordPress is a large and robust platform that not all individuals can thrive on. If you find yourself struggling with website editing and overwhelmed with too many functions, we wouldn’t suggest WordPress.
Instead, you’ll find us designing and developing powerful websites via Squarespace. For Kink Pilates, we followed this methodology to determine Squarespace as our final website platform of choice.
Although we’d almost always recommend WordPress, that doesn’t mean a successful website can’t be built elsewhere. We have multiple projects to showcase these great results! The best website for your small business is one that you can confidently update, drives in ideal clients and showcases your expertise on Google Search.
Features of this small business website by Chloe Creative
For the rest of this post, we wanted to focus on the best parts of this small business website for Kink Pilates:
- Engaging videography and how that contributes to the visualization of the studio
- Shapes and curvature to mimic the reformer
- Embedded scheduling features to increase user experience
#1: Engaging videography
The founder of Kink had connected with a local photographer/videographer to capture moments of their studio during class time. This within the website contributed to the overall theme of the site which was to be positive, upbringing and high-energy.
This was a very similar approach to another small business website we completed for MEGA Workout in Raleigh, NC. On this website, the owner of MEGA also chose to incorporate videography to better capture the inside of their studio and the experience you get during one of their classes.
#2: Unique shapes and curvature that mimic reformer
Look at this amazing before and after of Kink Pilates:

The main difference here was mainly color usage – the prior website felt too modernized and drab in comparison to how Kink wanted to be portrayed. Instead, we brought in their bright oranges and pinks to attract a younger audience into the studio.
Secondly, we loved the original inspiration of including curvature in imagery and shapes on the site. To better incorporate this, we utilized them in different mediums by utilizing them in different rotations and with clear-cut lines to enhance that shape visually.
#3: Embeddable scheduling features
Last but not least, a great part of this Squarespace small business website is the utilization of MarianaTek for their online scheduling.
While there are many options for online scheduling for different business types, MarianaTek is very popular in the online fitness space because their development team will come right in and integrate for you on your website!
Once our team was done with the design, we sent the website off to their development team to add their widgets straight to the pages we created.
With this integration, potential visitors of the studio are able to see class availability, instructor availability, schedules and book immediately from the convenience of their phone. And – even better – they offer an app as well!
