We’re slowly but surely creeping into fall here in North Carolina. The cool and crisp mornings are giving me hope for sweater weather to come! And, October is baby month. In this blog post, I’m reviewing my favorite fall nails that I’ll be using as inspiration for one of my last appointments before baby is due.

Cute Fall Nails I’ve Tried Before

Fall nails are my absolute favorite to experiment with. Why? Because I’m a lover of all things neutral. Even though I was classified as a Light Summer in my color analysis, I’m a dark neutral lover at heart.

Usually when I go to the nail salon in the Fall months, I tend to follow the same trajectory of browns, dark greens or blacks. And as you may have learned from my summer nail inspo post, I follow very simple nail designs. If that’s you as well, keep reading!

Fall Nail Inspo

So, where do I get my fall nail inspo from?

Often I start browsing Pinterest, but mostly I tend to see what other influencers might be getting at their salon and use this to make my own twist on them!

Secondly, I look at what events I have going on soon and sort of build around that – for example, in the beginning of October, we are due with our first baby boy. I’m anticipating making my nails dark for this because who knows when I’ll be back at the salon! Plus, I’ll want to get something I’ve gotten before so I know it looks good and I’ll like it.

There’s nothing worse going to the nail salon, asking for something and then hating it because it wasn’t what you expected!

Fall Nails #1: Brown & Black French Tip

Think of this as your classic, elevated take on the notable french tip. This was actually a newer style that I recently tried and was actually pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it!

I actually didn’t have any set inspiration for this set, but just a vision in mind.

I think the key to making this look work is picking a neutral base that is as close to skin tone as possible. With a normal french tip, you almost go pinker – whereas here, you want to go more brown.

This really leans into the fall nails look because it’s a darker look without going full-on black if that’s not your style!

Fall Nails #2: A Glossy Light Brown

This is where I really leaned into my Light Summer palette 🤪

There are a lot of gals out there where dark colors are just not your favorite – and that’s okay! If you found yourself in this gray area, consider a orangey based brown. I really loved this SNS dip color in October because it felt very transitional for fall nails.

Especially in October when oranges and reds are more seen across the foliage in trees!

Fall Nails #3: Brown Chrome

I’ll admit – this one wasn’t one of my favorites but I’m sharing in case you need some chrome inspiration for the fall months.

In the spring, I feel like all you see is the funny bunny chrome AKA “glazed donut” look. But, what about chrome in the fall?!

I decided to try this style around Thanksgiving of last year and liked it, didn’t love it. It wasn’t quite the look I was going for! However, if you are looking for a sparkly gold for maybe a New Years Eve party, I think this look would be great!

Fall Nails #4: Dark Forest Green

And, saving my best for last! Dark forest green will 100% be in consideration for my choice when baby boy arrives in October.

If you know me personally, you know forest green is my most favorite color. No kidding – my car is even a dark forest green!

This color for fall nails is absolutely perfect because it can also take you into the Christmas season. Oftentimes when people think “fall” they think brown or burgundy – don’t sleep on your deep greens!

I think this look is very elevated and I’ll happily include this in my roundup of fall nails.

Simple Fall Nail Designs Are My Favorite!

As you can probably tell, I lean very simple in my fall nail inspiration. There are a lot of individuals out there who love to get really creative with their nails and I love that for them!

For me, I either stick to a solid color, go chrome or incorporate french tip. It’s really a rotation of those three!

I’ve been getting my nails done consistently since high school and have learned things that I really like or really dislike. Hopefully these fall nails will take you into the fall season and leave you happy as you walk out of the salon!
