I’m a big fan of Thanksgiving (who isn’t?) but I won’t lie and say this year wasn’t harder than it usually was.

Yes, we have a newborn this year, but I am learning how to navigate my own emotions as a new mom (still freshly postpartum, too!) in the peak of holidays 🫣

It reminded me of when I first started this business. The emotions. The fear. The ability to push through and listen to myself for decision making.

My message is this: mom life is the best. It’s hard. It’s also a time for you to lean into your sense of self and be the best version of you!!

After about 2 weeks, I was dying to put on a pair of jeans to feel put together again — I had all the cute sweater sets but was craving something a little more fancy.

Taylor and I first connected over our shared faith-life and since then, we’ve had many conversations on a human level. TBH — that’s my favorite part of my job 🤭 — connecting with clients on who they are instead of what they do.

Through working together, we learned that “Sound Mind” was transpired from 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.”

As a new mom myself (therefore being a subset of ideal client of hers), I truly resonated with this verse even in the first few weeks of motherhood — God doesn’t promise us a life free of trials, but does promise clarity & peace (hence, a sound mind). What a joyful reminder!

Thank you Taylor for trusting our team! Though I’m not returning to client work until 2025, I’m struggling to show up and “sell” to our audience…

Sharing branding tips, website tools and project wrap-ups have always come easy to me — but right now, it’s not feeling authentic to share these things 🫣 so here I am, putting a new foot forward in my new normal and sharing what does feel good!

Isn’t it crazy how God gives you different seasons to teach you different things?

I spent a lot of time since 2018 preparing and crafting my business to work with my lifestyle and not just for money.

At first, it was working alongside college classes.

Then it was working after my corporate working hours.

Then it was working nearly 12 hour workdays to eventually get me where I am now: just welcomed a newborn, enjoying life’s little moments and checking in on the team when I’m able 😄

In this season, God is teaching me many sweet things:
🤍 Diligence to find time in prayer / the Word — my days are currently unstructured which I initially struggled with. Now, I roll with the punches and find time when I can whether that be morning, midday or night.

🤍 A mindset shift from working for $$ to caring for a life — My days are currently no longer focused on making money and serving others through design. Now I’m caring for a life and trying to find a new normal which takes a mindset shift!

🤍 Slowness to quiet my heart and listen to His guidance — between nap times and feeds, time seems so still. In the quiet moments, I’m able to sit with my thoughts more than ever and jot them down on a notebook so I can learn and grow in my faith!

Posting this because I find myself enjoying this new normal and proud of how I’ve been able to see work differently than I did before 🤎 I still love my job and can’t wait to find a new normal routine once maternity leave is over!

I’m opening a multi-week prayer series (either via email or close friends stories) to challenge myself to sit down at every night and “brain dump” it all out to Jesus. Comment PRAYER and I’ll add you — open to anyone!
