Recently, I discovered I was a Light Summer 🤗 I went through (and paid for) the color analysis by Created Colorful and had a great experience. Ever since finding out what colors suit me best, I’ve purchased so many items and received so many compliments. In this post, I’ll be sharing a few simple summer nails if you find yourself as a Light Summer, too!

If you are reading this post and totally confused what a Light Summer is – we’ll cover that in today’s blog post. I do want to preface this post that just because I’ve found my “best colors”, doesn’t mean I’ve just thrown everything away in my wardrobe that doesn’t fit in that category. I am still a lover of neutrals and forest greens and will always be wearing those!
Nail color is one thing that I simply cannot go without. Whether it be a neutral or bright-toned summer color, I tend to show my personality and moods through my nails!
What is a color analysis?
I would say not until about a year ago I had no idea what it meant when someone said they were “getting their colors done”. But as it turns out, this has actually been around for quite some time!
Maybe you’ve received compliments everytime you wear a blue shirt or dress. Or, maybe your mom (like mine has done sometimes 😂) has said, “I don’t think this color suits you” when you wear a certain color.
This is because we all have our optimal colors in wardrobe! It’s not based on preference but actually the color of your hair and eyes, tone of your skin and lighting.
When I had my colors done by Created Colorful, I had to submit a series of photos without makeup on wearing different colors. From there, their team did their magic!
I’m not going to go into much detail about their process (I’ll do this in a different post) but overall I highly recommend.
What does being a “Light Summer” mean?
A Light Summer color palette consists of a lot of pastels or “light” toned colors. As far as what colors, consider the colors that remind you of summer: yellow, pink, blue.
By going onto Pinterest, you can find a lot of color palettes that denote a Light Summer so here’s a few:
Simple Summer Nails: Funny Bunny & Bubble Bath
This nail color combo is very popular in the online world. I’m currently wearing it as I type this blogpost because I feel it’s the perfect simple summer nail.
I’ve never been one to lean towards designs on my nails – I usually get SNS dip powder in either a singular color, chrome or a french tip. I’m truly so simple!
The perfect combination with these nail colors from OPI is two coats of bubble bath and one coat of funny bunny on top.
Something that I didn’t know when I first purchased these polishes was how transparent they are – so, if you like a deeper tone, I would just add more coats to your lineup.
Simple Summer Nails: Mint Green
One of my “best colors” in my Light Summer color palette is a pastel green that’s almost a very light mint green.
Green is one of my personal favorite colors but I tend to lean into the forest green tone for most of my wardrobe 🤪 with that in mind, I was happy to try out this new tone when I went to my local nail salon.
I wish I would’ve denoted the color down, but it was the perfect combination of neutral + bright to incorporate at the beginning of the summer.
Simple Summer Nails: Periwinkle
Everytime I think of the color periwinkle, I think of the bridesmaids dresses for one of my sisters’ weddings. We wore short, periwinkle colored dresses.
I remember at the time being complemented on how tan I looked and how blue my eyes “popped” when wearing this color. Little did I know – periwinkle is one of the colors that are highlighted in a Light Summer palette.
Candidly, I have never tried this color in a nail type but I saw it at my nail salon and knew I wanted to try it. Plus, at the time, we were awaiting to find out if we were having a boy or girl and this felt neutralized during the gender reveal 😁
I don’t know if I would put this in my common rotation of colors, but I do think when I’m feeling “bold” I’ll come back to this!
Simple Summer Nails: French Tip
I’m a big french tip gal – I love to play around with the colors of the tips for changes of seasons! In the past, I’ve had black tips, brown tips, pink tips, blue tips and the normal white tips.
For a Light Summer, I think french tip is such a perfect color combination because it pulls in the very light-toned pink that tends to be in every Light Summer palette reference image.
In this photo, I actually tried the Olive & June press on nails. At this time at the beginning of the year, I needed to take a break for my nail health with the SNS dip powder. Because I physically cannot go without something on my nails, this caught my eye at target.
I will say: if you haven’t tried Olive & June press ons, I highly recommend. I admit I had a “bad taste” with press on nails because of when I was younger and how flimsy they were! These felt sturdy and high quality and lasted nearly 2 weeks!
I’ve still got more to try!
I just received my color analysis results in the past 2 months, so I still have so much more to experiment more with my new Light Summer palette knowledge.
Simple summer nails are such an easy ways to try new colors that might be outside of your personal preference window without doing a complete overhaul of your wardrobe. However, I’m super proud of myself when I ordered my colors in a few different items:
- The Hill House nap dress
- Amazon dress
- Target maternity jumpsuit
- Free people longsleeve
